Twinning

Twinning – Implementation of e-platform for taste control in Italian cancer patients – Twinninig Solution

Duration:
8 months (July 2020 – February 2021)

Financing:
This project has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under the Grant Agreement No. 826353.

Summary:
Cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy experience many side effects, including taste disorders.

This project aims to implement the Gastrology & Primary Food Care (GPFC) platform in the Italian context, a digital platform developed by the Center for Gastrology in Leuven (Belgium). GPFC-platform allows to map the individual profile of the taste perception in patients who experience changes in taste and provides screening tools to monitor the nutritional state.
This twinning action points at a ready-to-use GPFC e-platform in the Italian context, in particular to make it available for cancer patients suffering chemotherapy-induced taste disturbances assisted by ANT. Since recipes are culturally sensitive, they have to be embedded in the Italian eating habits in order to be ready to self-prepare personalized meals at home.
